Automated Table Saw Fence (Rip-it)

I have actually been lucky enough to get my hands on a model Rip-it . The Rip-it fence allows you to input a range and the fence moves by itself to that precise position.

  1. Really glad you posted this as I really want to see this project fully funded! Were you able to try the fence on the left side of the blade? Does it calibrate from the left side as well?

    1. Yes you can calibrate from either side of the blade by tapping “Left” or “Right” on the quick start menu.

    2. @Kingston Steele that’s great to hear. Will the OLED screen have any type of protection on it similar to a screen protector you might buy for a phone? For example, I get high-strength glass screen protectors for my phone and they are easily replaceable if they get damaged.

    3. Yes! We’re looking at building our bezel out of gorilla glass. We’re also looking at shipping out screen protectors as well, although you can probably use just about any off the shelf screen protector that is the right size.@Stephen Hall

    1. It’s built for the right market. There’s tons of furniture and precision makers that will use this. Plus it will get cheaper over time. It’s a prototype now

    2. @Nick Ricca I doubt it’ll get cheaper. There’s other similar cnc fences and systems and those haven’t come down in price even though they’ve been in the market for years now.

  2. Can the motor be disengaged temporarily so the fence can be moved manually if for some reason I want that? Seems like a great product!

    1. Hi, we’re the product design company that developed this product. Yes! You can “disengage the drive” as we call it, with just the tap of a button. Even better though, is you can hold the Jog arrow keys and Rip-it will move in that direction until you let go!

  3. Appreciate seeing the designer in the comments. I’ve been keeping my eye on this, but the price is just a touch steep for an individual. Definitely worth it for a production shop!

    1. Hey, I appreciate you checking it out. Is there anything I can do to get you off the fence so to speak ;p

I’m here to answer any questions!

  4. Wonderful invention has the potential to really speed up sawing and improve accuracy. Makes my little DRO-based guide look amateurish. It appears it will never be affordable to hobbyists because of the top-heavy development and manufacturing, a lot of hands are in the pot!

  5. I built something like this years back, x-y axis type thing with blade depth, sooooo many patents in front of me!
