I had a maple bowl blank that I made in 2012. This bowl blank had a lot of material on the bottom part of the bowl and I thought it would be great to attempt something I have actually been thinking about for a while. I wanted to add legs to the bottom of a bowl. I utilized a radial box joint that I cut on the CNC device to include three walnut legs. I then sculpted the excess product away forming 3 pointy legs. It looks a little spooky however I like it.

You’re creating a good collection of alien egg inspired bowls there.
Delightful creation…. thanks for sharing your inspiring work
Yes, it’s been a while, but well worth it in the end. What a cool project Frank!
Welcome back fella, a pleasure indeed.
That final piece is genuinely unsettling. Fantastic work!
Not gonna lie, i think i would have prefered the legs going in further; meaning that pattern at 7:22 actually penetrating the inside of the bowl so in the finished product the legs would have been all walnut and the radial-boxjoints were visible on the inside of the bowl.
Thank you for you upload Frank 🙂
I checked on Friday to make sure I hadn’t missed a video lately, I was confident that i hadn’t. Really worth the wait I must say. You never disappoint. I hope there will will be deck remodel series videos coming soon. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all to just try it.
Nice bowl, Frank. It was worth the effort. That clamp to the table was similar to a donut chuck on your lathe.

Hello Stranger. Glad to see you back in the shop smelling sawdust! That is one nice bowl design and masterful work you’ve done! Hope the porch/deck goes as well (maybe not as many spikes though).
