I created and built a modular coffee table out of walnut that pulls apart into three pieces– ideal for food, beverages, or perhaps as additional seating. In this video, I take you through my creative process, from sketching in Illustrator to refining in Fusion 360, tackling design constraints, and sharing pointers and techniques along the way. You'll see how I used router design templates to bring this project to life.

  1. Loved this project and loved how you took your inspiration from another design and made it your own!

  2. I hope to make the trip from Ontario sometime. I’ve been following you since you were a wee youtube guy. I love your work and your vibe.

  3. Gorgeous design and execution!

I’ve had the same issue with my bandsaw. It turned out it wasn’t the start capacitor but rather the flux capacitor. I started to try to fix it, but then I discovered that I had already fixed it yesterday.

  4. I love the way you think and how every time I watch I expect to see something unique. always inspiring

  5. Truly amazing work, Dave! Fantastic design indeed!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

  6. i love this modular coffee table! its a very inspiring concept that you could take in a variety of directions. filling the rental house with a bunch of hand made stuff, made with love, is such a classy move.

  7. Man, I love that design!!! I was enjoying the music when, on minute 13:06, it went silent, and you were sanding…… I instantly thought, “Sand in the place where you live,” 😂 but you didn’t play it…. only the start😂. You’re a genius!!! Thank you for creating interesting videos and simple beautiful furniture!

  8. You know, this project looks like the cover of your new book. The one you haven’t published yet. The rental house furniture book. All the rental house project, broughtt together. You can have a companion coffee table book with all the beauty shots of the finished pieces along with anecdotes from making them.

  9. Missed opportunity not making this a Star Wars colab, totally gives TIE Fighter vibes

  10. That joint is called a “I’m-a-better-woodworker-than-you-because-you-don’t-know-fancy-words” joint. It’s similar to an insecure-gatekeeper’s joint. But it subtly different in ways you wouldn’t understand if I told you

  11. Hey Bob, this is gotta be your best video to date. Or at least in a long time. I hope you got all your problems with the mud in the pool fixed. Look forward to your next video.
