At the Goodwill I stumbled upon a lovable wood chair developed for kids. Its folding system was so interesting that I chose to combine it with the timeless Trieste chair's design to create something distinctive. Chairs are inherently challenging to style because they need a balance between type and function. However, drawing inspiration from both chairs, I had the ability to use a mix of determined guesses and serendipity to craft a streamlined and modern folding chair.

  1. Man, what a nice chair and love the winging it nature of the build. Great job!!

  2. There’s no slat shaming today. Classic. Great looking chair, Dave – well done!

  3. That’s a really nice-looking chair, Dave. My favourite part was seeing your face where you unfolded the chair.
I really like the humour in your videos. Your videos are so entertaining and informative to watch. Keep it up!

  4. I’ve moved around endless numbers of the adult sized version of that chair. Exact same look. Back in the 80s and 90s everyone had a pile of those handy for when you had extra guests. For larger parties it was far from uncommon to borrow a pile from several nearby neighbors.

  5. I have learned a lot on you channel but I will say one of the most useful things I’ve picked up from you is how useful playing cards can be in woodworking

  6. Can I just say that the anticipation you’ve built when sanding for that sand in the place where you live song is spectacular. I expect it every time and am bummed when it’s not there. Love it!

    1. That’s very true I am the same way! Also drill some holes and pound some pegs as well at this point!

  7. Love the chair! Great build! I will say, I was looking forward to seeing you reuse parts of the chair like you have used parts of the thrifted version in your past videos. No shade and not taking away from the absolutely great work. Just would of been nice. You could of used the old chair for the slats and back support or something. Again great build!

  8. I love the direction you’ve taken your channel lately. This was a great video. You’ve got me wanting to head to the Goodwill to find something to build.

  9. I like seeing the creative process. I think it is one of the hardest aspects of making things.

  10. Awesome video as always and the chair came out great! The shot of your table saw off cuts followed by throwing your push block had me rolling😂

  11. I love watching the thought process in the development of this project. I have to go through the same thing every time one of my daughters sends me a photo and says “Can you make this?”.

  12. That’s one of your best videos imo of everything you do so well. Love the creativity, the artistic side and the journey

  13. Fun video man! You crack me up! The subtle things like the boards coming off the table saw, then the push block… lol, nice touch.

NO JOKE chairs are hard! Watching the brace for impact when you sat in it… priceless, I know the EXACT feeling! I built a tiny dining room style chair for my youngest son recently and I still cringe and get ready for tiny bon fire every time I see him leaning in it!

  14. Love it! I was hoping this one would drop soon after you talked about it on making it!

  15. Nice work! I would have been so nervous to work on the fly with the good lumber. I could see the second you sat down that the back would need a little work, so i was happy to hear you bring it up. I think that piece could even be angled a bit so it gets more towards vertical.

  16. This project greatly interests me because I have an old folding table that came with a pair of matching folding chairs that fit inside a cavity in the table frame. A relative gave me the table but kept the chairs for some reason. I seriously would not mind trying to make chairs for it down the line. I don’t have the tools for it yet, but some day.

  17. Really nice chair, and super inspiring! I’ve been wanting to build a couple chairs for different purposes and this one would work great. Looking forward to the more detailed video.
