I discovered a vintage atomic-age table in my grandmother's attic and fell in love with the shape, so I chose to build my own variation from scratch. But rather of my usual colored veneer top, I wanted to try something I 'd never ever done before, an experiment with epoxy resin and material that I genuinely wasn't sure would work. What followed was a lot of second-guessing, a few errors, and one surprise near completion I didn't see coming.

Oh yeah you’re totally right wet epoxy under the fabric and then squeegee over the fabric is more like how you’d fiberglass a canoe and probably a little less stressful than the vacuum bag, but learning always makes a great video.
I almost lost my coffee at 2:55 when you said “It’s not like we’re making furniture”. I volunteer my cabinet maker skills to build wheelchair ramps. I cringe when the guys pull and bend warped and twisted 2×4 pressure treated boards to “fit”. Everything is assembled with 3″ deck screws. Occasionally, I get too fussy about something and they tell me, “Hey, man. We’re not building furniture”. Haha. Thx.

Great project! Also, I enjoy the semi-chaotic projects that involve bleeping. Not that I enjoy seeing you stressed. It’s just fun and humurous to see how messy art can be.
David I notice that you are working much better under pressure than in previous videos, anyone who can do an ad read while dealing with an under planned epoxy setup is handling the situation pretty well. Cool idea for the table top and you used a great looking fabric. I think you’re pulling out of your post gallery show slump just fine.

I am not going to lie; it was a little entertaining to see you struggle with that vacuum bag. That came out awesome and if I didn’t know better, I would have thought it was part of a set with the chair and the lamp. Fantastic job!!

I feel like @WesleyTreat would know something about that cool weird original table.. only because it looks like something futuristic 70s weird and right up his alley. And that remake is just as cool and different and something I’ve never thought of. Genius!
