Nice job Steve, FYI along with the just one shot of getting the placement contact it will also discolor the print in time. Definitely a no.
Should have stretched the canvas like an oil painting.
FYI for next time:
Canvas can be mounted on stretcher bars using staples. Very easy, inexpensive, quick, lightweight, easy to hang, and you don’t have to remove the white border. You can purchase at any art supply or make them yourself.
That’s definitely what a normal person would have done! 😂
I make barnwood frames all the time. If you think working with a warped piece of hardwood is challenging you should try barnwood! As for your mitre sled, about 5 years ago I watched your video on making one and it’s been a game changer! Thanks for that! I would have done the top chamfer last so that if your corners weren’t perfect the chamfers would be perfectly even all the way around. Not that yours weren’t…😂
Nice to see you again.
I would have used thin wallpaperglue for the picture. Have used this with big posters. Best regards from Germany.
Have bought all your courses. Worth it. Remind me, why the studio in SF? Novato too hot? -SF East Bay resident
You’re always amazing Steve! Started watching WMM 6 Years ago and learned a lot! Thank you!
So great to see full videos coming from you, Steve. They’re always a great resource of info and technique!
Nice bro looking good you are so awesome thank you
“Or something like that”😂😮😊
I’ve just read your 2026 “My Tools List” and I got to say, what an improvement! I downloaded it a few years ago and it was helpful with my first round of buying tools (most of them my dad already had) and I’m glad that you somehow still kept the budget option under $1000, but also took the time to lay out better options that, while more expensive, are still the best bang for your buck. I also really liked how you had options for your non American fans too, as well as a list of tools to look into after the essentials. Great job Steve! I can’t wait to see more videos as always.
Thank you! 😊
Turned out pretty nice. I’ve bought nice straight boards and brought them home. Within days the change in humidity would have them on the move. Its always a challenge.
Nice job! That print looks lovely! Those hooks work great for adjusting frames.
Very nice work on making that picture frame Steve! 👍👍
Steve baby. It’s canvas mount it like all the canvases have been mounted since forever make a frame stretch it and it’s done
Wyatt should be super proud! Very cool art and project, even if there might have been “better” ways of mounting/framing it.
You should have given it a good coat of spray varnish to protect it, they even make a UV varnish to resist fading. There’s a plastics dealer near me that would have cut and sold that piece for maybe $30, however I never mount artwork under glass or acrylic anymore, I hate the glare, I just give them a couple good coats of spray varnish, even original artwork on paper. I’ve got charcoal drawings and pen and watercolor sketches that I mounted to 1/8″ MDF that I sprayed and mounted into frames I made.
There’s reasons that artworks are mounted in certain ways. Nonetheless, an instructive video, Steve. Thank you.
What a view!
Steve, I’d recommend doing a miter slot cut in each corner, gives you extra strength on the corners. You could even cut slots in the corners on that 1/4″ ply so the picture itself “sits” in place. In short, you’re adding “splines” in the corners and if done correctly, enough of the spline sticks out to where you can “rest” the picture on them and sandwich between with glass/plexi/acrylic. Hope it makes sense to you. Cheers 🙂
