    1. he has an earlier video on how to make this…it’s a fun easy project. He posted it a few years back, but it’s worth looking for it

  1. Cool! I made one of these as a gift for my Aunt, about 3 years ago after my dad (her brother) passed away. I used your technique for transferring a digital photo onto the sliding panel (the one where you print from an inkjet onto the slick side of label-paper, then use a J-Roller to transfer it. The photo was one of the last of my late Father, enjoying a glass of wine during a trip he took with my Aunt. And the wine I put into the box was the same batch as the very last wine he drank before passing away from cancer. My Aunt said she’d treasure the box forever, lol.

  2. A whole project video in a short? Nice, I think most of us could try and build one using the tips from. All your previous videos

  3. Nice looking project as always….

in my grandfather’s shop, we would have called that a “mantle box”, as it was narrow and fit well on the fireplace mantle. I’ve also heard them called by an older name: candle box. back when candle light was the chief source of light, a easy access, convenient place to store the supply of candle sticks until needed , this box fit the bill. as a bonus it also helped keep them straight so they wouldn’t be bent when it came time to use them.

The box design itself is straight forward enough it is easily altered to different sizes and uses. I made one for my wife for her numerous medication bottles. It is more square than the long narrow version, and deeper, having an internal sliding tray for smaller medication bottles…

  4. I am old enough to remember when Steve made one of these out of plywood! I made one a few years ago out of plywood, too, when I first started woodworking. It sits on my bar with a bottle of scotch on display instead of wine. I guess I’m going to have to up my game and make one out of mahogany now.

  5. Great looking wine box, Steve. This video reminds me of the ‘Good Old Days’ and all of the cool projects that you used to teach me how to make.
