In this video I make a hollow form from Burr Elm stabilised with epoxy. I've worked with a fair bit of this batch of Burr Elm and it is full of inclusion's and hollow areas, making it near difficult to turn without some type of stabilising. I used a slow set epoxy coloured with mica powders to offer a molten lava type of want to the top. I understand resin is a bit like marmite, some individuals enjoy it and other people hate it. I only attempt and use it, if I believe it is essential to save a piece of wood or to improve a piece. I believe on this piece it does both. Thanks for examining it out.

Hi Andy, excellent as always. A thought, have you considered doing a hollow globe with very thin epoxy “windows” possibly one of your famous world maps then illuminating it internally as if not a lamp but an illuminated decorative piece?
Love your videos. I have one suggestion. It would be cool if you did closed captions to explain what and why you’re doing things. You don’t need to use your voice if you don’t want to. Chanel’s like primitive technology do it all the time would love to see that happen.
Put me in the ‘love it’ category, that is gorgeous work, the rich colors and texture of the wood is phenomenal!
It’s firmly in the “LOVE IT” category for me, and that pour…yeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssss. The end result is phenomenal, as always! Bloody brilliant, Andy!
Beautiful finish! It always amazes me how unique your designs are. Sometimes similar but never repeated.
Another amazing transformation! Definitely LOVE it 👍💕
I LOVE IT! And I Love that you used rich copper colors in the epoxy instead of blue. Love it!!
The epoxy mix is perfect for this project. Simply beautiful..!!! Thank you ❤😊 SD
I’m also in the love it camp. Thanks for giving us your time that it takes to make the videos.
Beautiful! Personally I really like the epoxy hybrid creations with the extra textural and colour contrasts they have.
This is Marmite… you love it or hate it and i LOVE it. The colours really enhance the wood. Phenomenal
Oh yeah, this is a piece I love! The way the epoxy blended compliments the burr elm beautifully. Very nicely done!
Why would anyone hate it, Andy? It’s lovely.
That came out so nicely, thanks Andy 👍💪✌
The ‘folds’ of the resin look it a beautiful rose.
Add me to the “Love It” category. This piece is lovely and the resin colour complements the wood very well. As a woodturning artist, your instincts are on point.
A beautiful little gem!
I’m in the love it camp! Resin matched in so well and made a gorgeous piece
Absolutely beautiful. Copper is my favorite colour.
Stunning piece, Andy!!! 😮
Really fantastic work!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
More Silly String and coconut curls. You ended up with a really gorgeous piece of art. Definitely lovin’ it!
