In this video I turn a piece of Beech which had a nasty fracture in it, I could probably have actually turned it out but believed I would try a stick fix instead.

Your creativity never ceases to amaze, another stunning piece
That was such a cool design! I like that you used that amber resin. It really helped pull the fix together in a seamless way. Thanks for sharing your art with us!
Wow, the amber resin is just stunning. I agree completely with your comment.
I can hear Julie Child ” Now in order to properly cook your sticks put them in an oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.”
🤣 Excellent.
lol since you posted that I can so hear her saying that…too funny.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was going to say something but you beat me to it… that is hilarious…
Love this piece. First saw Jim Sprague use this technique but have seen several use it now. Always looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Now there is another master piece that you came up with Andy. You sure are a wood turning artist and what you think of doing differently every time.
Andy Phillip, you are a very gifted artist. This turned wood project is awesome. The way all of the sticks shine through on both sides is amazing. Jeez, Thank you so much for demonstrating how you made this wonderful work of art.
Genius fix Andy. I don’t think it would’ve looked nearly as good without the sticks. Well done.
Andy, your creative genius and artistry knows no bounds!! You never cease to amaze me. This is got to be one of the coolest pieces I’ve watched you make!
First of all, stunning work, secondly , very happy to see resin, and last but not least, the giants causeway in miniature. Nice work Andy. 👍🏻
The design of your drilled-out area fits really well with your sticks and how they fit so nicely into that hole.
A living example of how failure can be turned into an advantage! As always, a great video!
Gorgeous 🤩💞 The conjunction of art and craftsmanship in your vesselsbis inimitable. Brilliant really.👏💖
How many times can I say it? Such a sympathy for the wood, love it! Thank you for sharing 💜
That far out reached my imagination of bringing something of almost ruin to another masterpiece. One of the best I have witnessed you achieve. Brilliant. 👍
I really like this! You did a great job and the video editing was nice. I’ve been turning sticks quite a bit for different types of jewelry beads and lately I started making K&Q chess pieces to sell out of this amazing 200+ years old tree that was struck by lightning and fell demolishing many trees. What I found to be fascinating is the sticks have perfect 5 pointed star shapes in the center when you cut perpendicular to a knot. Have you ever noticed anything like that before. I looked it up online and its not that much info about it.
No I haven’t heard of that before
That stick patch is cool looking. Looks like wood was originally like that. Maybe do mixture of sticks and colored pencils patches all around an vase. Keep up good work.
That is so freakin’ cool! When you were starting to reshape it, I thought you’d be making it into a Winnie the Pooh hunny jar, but the vase is cool, too. Great fix, nice work. And maybe make that ‘Hunny Jar’ next time 😉?
Freaking ingenious! Such a steay hand, and the variety of sounds and pitches as you work through the various layers is so satisfying!
IMPRESSIVE! A visual enhancement that initially appeared to be a repair or salvage effort. Extremely well done, Andy!
The sticks may have been a ‘fix’ but they made the piece for me. I love the way that at first glance the finished work looks as if the stick part is painted on. Superb. 👌🏻
