Woodturning a Triple Crotch Log..

In this video I turn a Birch crotch log into an open hollow type. I was originally going to leave the naturel edge on this however didn't like how it was looking, so opted for the hollow kind, which made it somewhat more difficult. I didn't film it, however the pictures at the end of the video reveal the inside has actually been finished with a stone textured surface that I believe offers a nice contrast.

  3. That is very nice!! I know it takes skill to turn it without having it break apart in the process, especially preserving the live edge on rim of the vase. You chose the right log and did it justice.

  4. Nice, Andy. That stone finish definitely provides a nice contrast, too. It’s especially evident around the rim.

  6. These are my absolute favorite turnings! When you take such a raw piece of wood and turn it into a thing of beauty! In its original rich wood tones, not that I don’t appreciate a great resin piece, but wood is so beautiful! Was this a piece of green wood?

  7. That’s cool! It looked bigger when you started it, surprised me at the end. I like the negative spaces.
