In this woodturning video, I take a piece of spalted Ash and turn a natural edge bowl and add some gold flake to a crack running the length of the piece. I completed it with Danish oil.

Hi Andy! Another fine piece of wood art๐. The crack with 24 carats of gold makes it really expensive, grins ๐. Best regards from Hans and Cheers ๐ป๐ฆ๐น
Beautiful piece of wood. Beautiful design. Beautiful craftsmanship. Beautiful masterpiece. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
This wood is beautiful. The gold is the perfect touch! Lovely, Andy! ๐
Well done, an ugly piece of wood and you turned it into a beautiful bowl. The art of kintsugi is so beautiful with wood.
Just awesome. ๐๐ผ
Funnily enough, just last night I was talking with my husband about the Japanese tradition of mending broken things like pottery with gold. It shows the history of the item and makes it beautiful in a different way from how it was originally. I wish I could remember the name of the art, it’s such a wonderful idea and really does look gorgeous.
And here you are…๐ It works with wood too!
I’ve seen the Japanese technique you are referring to; it’s Kintsugi.
Gorgeous ๐โคโคโค

What a gorgeous piece! Love it! Congratulations Andy!
Superb presentation of the natural patterns. Love it.
Every aspect of that piece is amazing! As another viewer had mentioned, the addition of the gold resin was like the Japanese Kintsugi technique, celebrating beauty in imperfections. And this is a beautiful piece.
