Turning an Invasive Species !!

In this video I turn among the UKs invasive species, Laurel. I have actually been cutting some of this to dry for fire , however as typical could not resist a piece. It turned easy enough however ended up rather boring so it will be interesting to see if it gains much colour as it dries and if it splits or not.
An update – Its simply over a month considering that I turned this, as the video heads out and although it's still quite bland there has been no visible signs of motion or cracking …

  2. I love seeing the woodgrain brought out in a piece of wood, which makes me surprised at how much I like this piece. What’s there, still attracts my eye!

  3. You’re up early today! So am I. 05:40… Blooming knee. At least you are taking my mind off it in the best way, so thank you!

    1. @@TXnine7nine That was my first thought, also. Thanks for giving me a chuckle and letting me know I’m not the only one.

  4. I don’t think it’s bland at all! It’s actually a beautiful piece with wood that’s almost pure in it’s color. I bet it ages and seasons as time goes on. It’s a beautiful piece Andy! ❤❤❤

  5. That bark inclusion was really interesting. Wood always surprises me, thanks for the videos. 😎

    1. I was thinking it was about to be in for a wild ride, but then it was rudely blown off! 😂😂😂 Poor spider was having a bad day!

  6. Bland is a good word for it – always impressive to see you use the tools (and video editing!)

  7. That’s nice, Andy, even if you think the wood is bland. I’m not one much for color or stain but I think that wood would be a future candidate.

  8. Amazing! I was hoping to see those beautiful leaves inside epoxy like the flowers but as always you find the hidden beauty that I never see. Well done, bravo Andy! 👏🎉❤

  9. Well done. Thought for sure this was going to be live edge. No matter, the natural edge is very nice. You did a great job with the piece as well. We can see, and you said in the description, that the wood is pretty plain. I would suggest that it would be a great candidate for coloring and other embellishments. No guilt for covering a beautiful grain pattern. Good job Andy.

  10. Bland, Andy? How about pleasingly minimalist? I love it. 👍 PS: I’d have never guessed that Puff the Magic Dragon is so small. 🤣😂

  11. Very simple and clean, I really like it! That little bit of spalting gives it character. If it ends up splitting, I think that could only add to it.
