I started sketching something totally different, however a pleased mishap led me to this sculptural, moon-inspired bedside light. In this video, I stroll you through the creative detour that turned an approximation into one of my preferred pieces complete with a walnut base, brass details, and a strategy to transform it into a touch lamp. It's a story about gathering tools, following inspiration when it strikes, and accepting the unforeseen in the innovative procedure.

Do you realise there is a ‘lamp touch switch module’ available, small enough that it could be incorporated in the base, sometimes referrred to as a desklamp repair kit
I found several on amazon.
Make something ? MAKE EVERYTHING !!!!
Yes!
This was a great story. And the lamps look fun and whimsical. Thanks for sharing!
Good night lamp. Looks great Dave.
That’s the difference between us. I’m comfortable to stay at my tech job 🙂
Terrific design on those lamps David! 👍👍
Love the lamps! good luck with the shop.
New-Toolsday is the funnest day of the week.
That Tom like Tom from MySpace
Those look great, Dave! I bet you could sell those for quite a bit (if you did that sort of thing).
Great film making. Slick lamps and build. Mahalo for sharing! : )
It’s so confusing when you see the video when it first comes out, but you don’t watch it yet and then when you go back later it’s a completely different title and picture
MAKE HER NEW NIGHTSTANDS!
You can’t beat an ordeal video.
EXACTLY the same path I took, sans the YouTube experience. Miter saw, router, table saw, planer, jointer, etc., etc. Until our two car garage overflowed to the carport. And then my wife’s car sat outside this winter while I built our granddaughter’s loft bed (and while my broken hip healed). Photography, woodworking, and, oh yeah, the computer system, from the various iMacs to the present Mac Mini Pro. Doughnuts anyone?
Amazing work, Dave! Really well done!!! 😃
They look amazing! And really complement the place!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The storytelling approach to your videos is 🔥
Thank you!
Oh my god! The old Makita 1310 is still my favorite miter saw ever! Accurate, reasonably stiff, loved the big table when doing carpentry/trim work! My neighbor has my old one and he passed away a few yrs ago.. begging his daughter to let me have it back and rebuild! (It’s rusty now from sitting in basement unused all these yrs)
i love touch lamp
That first 57 seconds should be a short!!
