Really nice and I admire your bravery for attempting such a project. Installation option, use the tape, plywood end brackets to support a wooden roller that will roll the walnut into place as you rotate your project over the roller, applying even pressure from end to end, a two person installation. Your tape dispenser makes me so happy every video. You know those Yule log videos that run Christmas music while showing a roaring fire? Can you release a video with your music playing over a loop of you pulling pieces of tape and adding them to a project?
Hi Dave, you can just cover the foam with something else to prevent glues melting it. Something like epoxy, filler of some sort, or various other things, then contact glue would have become viable. It’s something that is done in minature related hobbies when that same foam is used to make thing like hills but then needs something glued onto it.

An idea for future similar projects with multi layers, make a centre hole for a dowel and slippage problem solved.
Pretty cool. At first I thought you snuck into my shop and found my plans for my wood extruder I’ve been working on for the last 10 years. Glad it wasn’t that.
*Never cut towards your hand! 😉 Here’s the wine rack video: https://youtu.be/jXzK8x6lwtE
Wow those look amazing! Thank you for sharing each step of the way! I definitely learned something and you got me thinking! 😊
You can paint a coat or two of water based primer over that foam, and then use anything you want on it. I do this so I can spray paint the stuff, for props.
That’s a great idea! Thanks!
Couldn’t you also use latex contact cement, instead of solvent based? Saves a step.
This might be the coolest weirdest thing you’ve ever invented/created/tried to make.. really awesome. And so out there I would be terrified to try and do something like this. The boy’s a genius! A+
All your projects have been top notch lately. I love the creativity and designs. Too much shop furniture on YouTube. People need to be reminded what the shop stuff enables you to do!
Truly the best part of this video is Wally.. 🥰 I mean the rest is good to but he’s the best part.
Enjoy wally time dude. Ace video 🤙
now that you’ve finished it, you can use pvc pipe inbetween radius curves like that as a bar clamp. dad used to keep various tubes empty and filled for projects like this. great job!
Wow! One of the coolest projects I’ve seen you do.
Love the video man. I know you’ve said on the podcast that your pivot toward making things you care about more and the new editing style, etc. has reduced your viewership numbers. But I like to believe that a small number of people who care a lot, is better than a large number who care a little. I get that you have to pay the bills at the same time though. Anyways, keep the passion, maintain the balance and thanks for all the videos man!
Thank you thank you!
I would suggest adding locating holes to your template that you could use to drill holes for dowels to prevent the layer slipping.
Great project!
No other comment to make other than Merry Christmas to you and Kelly.
Great to see Wally! It’s been a minute.
I’ve had solid success using 3M spray adhesive on foam many times before. The key is to spray from further away (more in the air than at the piece), then let the particulate fall onto the foam. Once both pieces are tacky some solid pressure will make thise things almost inseparable.
I love the energy of this video. 100%
