I have loved seeing you transition into a creative artistic style of woodworking channel, as I’ve also transitioned away from really needing to watch videos to learn things and prefer ones that inspire me creatively.
However, it is cool to see a new how-to style video from you. Your early videos were a big part of my learning to woodwork, and it’s great to see how good of a teacher you still are.
I remember years ago where you showed how to make this box joint jig. I remember commenting that it was the easiest and best tutorial I had ever seen and I used this new knowledge from that moment on.

This is awesome. I’ve seen countless finger joint jig vids over the years, this one is super concise! Loved all three methods shared here! But my favorite is the miter gage on the table saw because its so dead simple. Always killin it David!

I’ll be damned, Dave. This is the LAST box joint video I’ll ever need to watch. I made a real complicated one years back (with a threaded rod, moving carriage, etc) and it worked well, but I really only ever made boxes with the joints all the same size. This is so much more straightforward. While I enjoyed making the complicated one, which has value, I ended up harvesting all the parts for other things. I’m going to give this a whirl, maybe trying to incorporate some 3D printed stuff (I have something in my brain swirling around about making the pin & slot part on a 3D printer… we’ll see). Anyway, you’re a really fantastic teacher and this is ANOTHER really, really well done video. Many thanks!

I’ve been cutting and teaching box joints for decades but from now on I’ll start each lesson by showing this video.

I do love me some box joints. I daresay I like them better than dovetails. Also here to shout out that gorgeous mahogany. Last box joint project I had getting the fit was super finicky. Wish I had that playing card shim trick up my sleeve then. Thanks for sharing!
