I have made more mallets. I have discovered a brand-new source for wood to make the mallets. This wood was predestined for the Portland airport restoration. A good friend of mine owns The Zena Forest Products that also makes the wood floor covering tiles for the new airport renovation. I was able to scavenge a dumpster loaded with the declined pieces for this floor covering. I have glued these pieces together to make the heads for a series of Carver's mallets. The mallets also use the radial finger joint I have actually been using in the past to connect the head of the mallet with the handle of the mallet. Once the blank for the mallet is all glued up, I wood turned it into a mallet shape.

Welcome back !!
Happy Holidays! Is nice to see you back.β€οΈπ₯°
GREAT video/project Frank. The mill should get an “Environmental” award for how they respect the forest, give people an opportunity for employment and just CARE. The mallets are pieces of art, which we have come to enjoy on all of your projects! !! !!!
So glad to see you again Frank! You’ve been busy. The mallets look great! Hope all is well with you and your family.
Nothing is quite as beautiful as a tool that has been used
Glad to see your video’s again! We missed you π
Its been a joy to watch your channel over the years. I always look forward to a new video from you. Thanks frank.
It’s always such a pleasant surprise to find a Frank video waiting… Like when you suddenly realize it’s a long weekend, or you found your phone just as you’ve given up looking.,…
I’m so thankful to see your video in my feed this morning! Woo-hoo!! I truly appreciate your creative craftsmanship!! Thank you for sharing these beauties! Would love to see an FH mallet.
Beautiful mallets. It is great to learn about the mill’s process. How you refined your own process and the thought process behind it is a fantastic insight.
Wow, the Portland airport is beautiful.
Always a good day when Frank releases a video.
FRANK!!! I was just thinking the other day I haven’t seen any of your videos come up on my feed! Glad to see you back! You have always been a source of inspiration for me and love watching your videos. I’ve since moved to an apt and dont have my shop anymore but your videos make it feel like i still do. Try to shift gears to hand tools on my kitchen table.
Truly amazing project, Frank! Wonderful mallets! π
Stay safe there with your family! ππ
Thanks Frank, your mallets are magnificent and unique.
Yes, to “FH” segmented piece on the end. I also think a walnut inlay of your maker’s mark on the butt of the mallet would look good.
Thanks for sharing a new episode with us.
Zena Forest mentioned! I was a biology student at Willamette when they bought a big chunk of it and TAed several ecology classes out there. I don’t remember if it was Ben, but we got to meet one of the mill managers and of course Sarah, who it seems has the amazing title of Visionary Matriarch and Protector of the Forest. It’s an amazing area and an amazing company.
Glad your back Frank!
Nothing quite like some Die Fledermaus on the freaking calliope! Glad to see you back, Frank.
SO glad you’re back! You were missed, sir! God bless!
