In this distinct woodworking task I turn a classic Magna Doodle plastic toy into a spectacular piece of fine furnishings. This nostalgic magnetic illustration pad will quickly serve as a message board in my workshop, including both practicality and design. With my woodworking skills and tools, I got rid of all the cheap plastic and replaced each and every single part with some gorgeous walnut and maple burl, developing a modern take on a conventional job.

That veneer is surprisingly pretty, especially after you oiled it to really bring up the colors.
Very cool, but why don’t you show a bit more of the final product?
I really like your refurbished drops and that burl looks stunning. As always great job and super funny content
Your sponsorship story happened to my wife’s grandmother as well. Except they didn’t have anyone’s info. The scammers just grandson and then she asked if it was me and they said yes.
0:11 Just over ten seconds into the video and already got me laughing out loud. Well done, David! ๐๐๐
Great project
That was surprisingly less complicated than I expected. Taking apart childhood toys is like meeting your heroes haha.
That came out so nice Dave! That little monster makes the piece!
Thanks for the complex! I never knew I needed to check for spiders in my ear protection. Now I won’t be able to ever wear them comfortably, knowing there’s probably a spider crawling into my ear canal
I donโt think the knobs were straight ๐ฎ. But thatโs minor bc the project was awesome. DO MORE ONLINE BUYS!!!!
If you’re gonne be extra with your toys, be extra extra. Another beautiful and fun upgrade. Can’t wait to see what’s the next item to get the Piccuito treatment. Thanks for sharing!
Bro, I expected a doodle on the inside of the final piece! Looks great though.
Amazing work, Dave! Really well done!!! ๐
Stay safe there with your family! ๐๐
Great video. Such a clever concept. Love the outcome. Gorgeous and useful! Mahalo for sharing! : )
David, you sir are a weirdo. I mean that as the highest form of a compliment. In today’s crazy world, we truly need more weirdos. Keep doing you, brother โค๏ธ๐๐
This is another one of the projects youโve teased us about on the podcast, and it looks amazing. Iโm looking forward to hearing about and then seeing the next one. Cheers David.
Jimmyโs baby voice probably has something to say something about your Berlin burl veneer over walnut! Cool project, David! Whatโs up with those skateboard blanks!? You have my attention.
Edit: Oh man, your rag at the very end. ๐
So very cool it turned out amazing
Must have gotten a little chilly in the shop at the end! ๐ฅ
Now that’s how you open a box!
