With the bulk of the electrical work done, I went to work on making the bed. I utilized the plastic bed from the old CNC as the first layer and leveled that using the new CNC. With that flattened I included another layer of the exact same plastic (StarBoard) and topped that with the aluminum plate that has actually threaded holes for hold down clamps. The spoil board is made from 1/4" thick acrylic and all four layers are screwed down to the base of the maker with 2" long deck screws.

  2. Fantastic CNC Router! Great job my friend! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Cheers from Brazil! ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท

  3. Nice work, canโ€™t wait to see it in action! I work with acrylic a lot and sometimes even those cast acrylic sheets can have an uneven thickness.

  4. Awesome build, but one correction so others donโ€™t waste their time – adding superglue to the outside of 3d printed parts does not make it stronger. This has be shown on a few videos now

  5. That has come together really nice. It must be a good feeling to have the ability to manufacture parts in-house whether it’s wood, metal or plastic.

  6. Truly amazing work, John! It turned out great! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Looking forward to see it running!
Stay safe there with your family! ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. Great build, John! I’m continually jealous of your ability to confidently plan and build your projects, despite all the “help” from the Peanut Gallery…

  8. Too bad it will never work, you used plywood and SAE hardware, lol. Great work as always John. Use that CNC to make the next CNC.

  9. this is so fun. 3D printing and CNC tend to be considered kinda cringe in some circles but by golly have they tried it?! It’s fun!!!
