Wood from Kencraft:
I develop a customized walnut cooking area drawer organizer designed specifically for our specific set of utensils. It's not about mass appeal or a one-size-fits-all solution; it's about the happiness of making something completely customized to your life. From designing each pocket to constructing a modular knife block for our future needs, this project commemorates the complete satisfaction of customization and the appeal of crafting something you just can't buy. Along the way, I discuss why this kind of individual, deliberate work is what keeps me coming back to the store.

Woodworkers Secrets Revealed – Click Here to Discover the #1 Woodworking Resource!
Freakin Gary.
Excellent addition to the kitchen!!
We have that exact bamboo expandable utensil storage. I had to staple and glue it back together a few times and made a block so it wouldn’t slide into the drawer. Haven’t been brave enough to make an organizer yet. Great video
Once again what a great post. I look forward to your posts so much. This one was I think one of the most enjoyable ones I’ve seen. Plus the music was so good. Thank you!!
Thank you for including the “happy accidents” you had in the build. Seeing your great work can be both inspiring and terrifying to those of us who are not as far along in our woodworking journey as you (even if we are farther along in our life’s journey). However, watching someone whose work we admire as he overcomes mistakes encourages us to continue.
There’s no way to please Gary, don’t even try.
From my feelings to your feelings. ❤
Much love. ❤
Elbows up! ❤
Classic David, if you don’t have a scroll saw from Harbor Freight, use you laser. Awesome.
Love the music during the router section
I made a custom utility drawer a few years ago also, scanned all the commone utensils and then pockets for the remainder. I thought I was the only one that had ever done this, I like your use of walnut, if you had used a thinner walnut cut all the way through and maple on bottom you would have had a nice contrast.👍
Love this. This project has been on my list to do, nice work!
“Just use your laser cutter” finally trolling the trolls, i LOVE it! Love the overkill, too. Gotta make sure that project is dead at the end.
4:04 Mine should be in any day now! My Harbor Freight had them for ‘Pre-Sale’. And that makes at least 3 things you’ve sold me on, HF scroll saw, automatic tape dispenser, & the FirePoint. lol
Ha! Sorry, not sorry!
Sweet David Johansen shirt 🤙🏽
You. Tease.
11:48, where’s REM?
11:54, seriously, no REM?
11:58, there it is!
I was seriously getting agitated there for a second.
Dave, you nailed it for me on this one. The value of woodworking is not in saving money or time, it is creating something custom (out of real wood) that can’t be bought on amazon.
I love the music in your videos. Keeps me tuned and in your vibe. Nice work. If you ever move, you get to make new ones for the new drawers. Everything in its place and every place with its thing. Life could not get better — woodwork plus the convenient life with followers that love you. Take care! Keep at it. You are whole lots of inspiration
To make almost anything I want, sure is a glamorous lifestyle. I will always be thankful for that. It’s the exact entertainment I crave.
I love how you take the most ordinary everyday items and turn them into works of art! This may be “just” a drawer divider, but it’s visually stunning and (as a very sensory person) I bet it’s a joy to use too, from the sleekness of the finish to the reduced noise 😊
Thanks, brother! I have been thinking about doing this for years. It doesn’t make any sense having all the wiggle space in each utensil compartment of the store bought ones. I love seeing them nicely stacked on top of each other. It turned out beautifully. I will eventually do a video like this too, slightly different design, but the same idea….including the knife holder.
