In this video I utilize Purple Heart and Oak to make a segmented brick Torus, I finished it with a couple of coats of Danish oil, I will now let it sit for a number of weeks to let the wood settle in the past sanding it back and applying the final coats.
When I try anything like this I'm constantly influenced by the remarkable segmented work by Malcolm Tibbets, well worth inspecting him out.

Looks like a portal to some “Other World” in the depths of old London or New York. It’s beautiful Andy.
love the contrast of woods almost looks like brass inlay 😍
OMG! The time, patience, and attention to detail this must have taken to create this amazing finished piece is almost beyond words worthy of describing it. That was truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship to create that work of art. I don’t think i would have even had enough patience to cut up all wedges that you used to reassemble/assemble into that, much less all the iterative steps that you had to go through before you could even begin the wood turning portion. Just WOW! You always impress, and this is certainly no exception. Thanks for sharing, and take care.
Beautiful. I was curious how some of those more complex segmented turnings were assembled
Another fantastic objet d’ art!💜
Reminds me of Epic Upcycling with all those little pieces put together so ingeniously!
The prep is everything in this extraordinary piece, the turning itself really just the finishing touch. Superb craftsmanship, endless patience, dogged persistence, stunning outcome. For the benefit of non-Brits, “Purple Bricks” is the name of a chain of estate agents/realtors in the UK.
Love how you manage to make the joints so perfect that is not easy. Paul
Wow, that looks like a brick walled donut. Well turned.
Cheers from Sweden.🇸🇪
That is amazing I love purple heart it has such a deep color truly remarkable great work sir and how long did that actually take to assemble and turn
That’s an impressive “ Torus “ you’ve made there Andy !! Top marks from viewing too 11/10
I’m sure you’re the only one who’s aware of some of the glitches along the way . Keep up with your challenges, that’s what sets you Apart from others.
With your shed set-up there, you might like to challenge yourself to a 7 or 8 pointed ⭐️ 🤓
Es ist wieder wunderschön. Wie kommen Sie bloss auf so tolle Ideen. Vielen Dank 💙🧡
Очень круто! Я думал только в 3d max такое возможно, но не в реальной жизни) Можно практическое применение этому изделию найти?
wow! You’ve finally made a stunning purple heart piece! I just love the color!!! Thank you @Andy Philip!!!
I would like for you to “show your work” on how you knew the angle in which to cut the circles, if you accounted for the thickness of the circles and if you knew what size the final circle was going to be. It’s both a beautiful and an impressive piece.
What an intricate and beautiful piece! Incredible work, as always.
