In this video I turn a Hollow Type vase from a couple of Oak spindle blanks and some Wenge offcuts, I finished it with sanding sealant and an abrasive paste.

Elegant. That is a very nice piece Andy!
It’s gorgeous Andy. Very well done, as always. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. . .
This is probably one of the projects I’d do to practice, simple to do and not complicated.
I really like the shape. And the grain is gorgeous. Good work Andy!
Many thanks!
The figuring on the wenge looks nice! It definitely helps accent the overall piece
What a fantastic idea! Absolutely lovely, for sure. Thanks for creating and sharing
Thanks so much!
At 6.55 I was reminded I have my 6 month dental check up in a weeks time π³
That aside, what a beautiful result Andy.
When looking at a finished product itβs easy to underestimate the long process of preparation β₯οΈ
It’s the rare and beautiful chocolate-striped urn. The grain patterns are beautifully managed and the classic simplicity of the shape lets the wood do the talking. There are wood turners all over the world shaking their heads at their own stupidity and trying to work out why they never thought of that. Your use of mixed and contrasting wood is one of your hallmarks and I love it.
Beautiful proportions, it just looks so effortlessly Beautiful, thanks for sharing π
Wow, what a result!! I think I know what I want to try this weekend…or at least some weekend after I get through all my other turning projects.
Another impressive piece of work Andy. As mentioned by other fans of yours, a simple idea, but you seem to have an eye for going that bit further. Brilliant.
Beautiful piece, Andy! Really amazing work! π
Stay safe there with your family! ππ
Simple, yet so elegant and beautiful. Wonderful attention to detail with the grain.
Love the design. When I saw the piece was assembled with a hole in the middle, I thought, well, it can only be a lamp base. Then you inserted the plug. Good video story-telling, with a twist.
I think ‘elegant’ is a better word than ‘simple’ for this one.
I love how you take what another wood worker might consider a fairly fancy pieced construction, you make something lovely (of course), and you are like…Hey, that little project turned out nicely! π
The care you put into getting the grain to match in the dark wood makes this piece really special. ππΌ
Really lovely, Andy. Your woodturning wizardry is sooooo impressive!
That is so cool. I particularly like the lighter contrast within the Wenge wood itself paired with the Oak. Is it possible to do that but with the stripes spiraling up like a barber pole?
At my high school we use a BBQ brush to spread the wood glue around (the ones used for spreading the BBQ sauce around) , It works great and gets even coverage. Nice video, keep on being safe!
The way the grain lines up is stunning. Great work as always β€β€β€
