Getting rid of tools I thought I needed. Over the years I have actually gathered tools, materials, jigs, and "at some point" upcycle projects faster than I can in fact make, and it's become excessive things, a lot of options, and too many decisions. This video is about reclaiming your store and your brain by letting go of what you have not used in years, arranging what's garbage, donate, or offer, and being honest about what "prospective" has actually quietly become weight. Some things are harder to let go than others, but if it's been sitting for years, it's time to make area for what I in fact wish to build now.

  1. Heard you talking about this on the podcast. As someone who ruthlessly, and sometimes regrettably, purges excess stuff once or twice yearly, I applaud your effort. It is soooo gratifying.

    1. I have a coworker who inherits all the tools I purge or replace in the workshop. I get the satisfaction of either simplifying or upgrading while also giving tools to someone who can use them. Sometimes there is a bit of… I dont know about regret necessarily, but that voice that tells me I “need” it or could use it one day.

  2. Congratulations for ridding yourself off such clutter, I am sure it takes an immense amount of courage and a very special mindset. Good Luck.

  3. I feel this video in my bones. It’s almost like I needed to hear this right now. I love the direction of the channel, we’re all growing and changing and it’s wonderful to see that happening here.

  4. I would guarantee if I got rid of a tool that I hadn’t used in a while, I would need that tool next mouth.

    1. I’ve thrown away stuff I thought I would never use again only to wind up by it again a few months later for double the price.

  5. Thank you for saying “Potential has a shelf life!” I am tired of holding onto useful things that I will not use because that time has passed. I just went out to my shop and put similar items in the Goodwill Box. Very liberating.

  6. You hit the nail on the head. I’ve been doing the same thing. Lol. I feel so much better when I walk into my shop when everything is in its place.

  7. I have quite a collection of potential and it’s definitely time to let some of that go. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I’ve already given away or sold most of the stuff. No need to join the Patreon just to see what I’m selling.

  9. I’m still in the filling my shop with junk phase. I’ll drive to Toledo right now for that pile!

  10. The timing of this video is perfect. I paint miniatures and over the years I have probably collected as many different brushes, paints and tools as I have miniatures. It got to a point where I struggle to start painting. Now I feel so much better.

  11. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now. I think this video has finally given me the inspiration I need to do it.

My shop feels so overwhelming that it’s hard to make myself get out there to work in it. Time to change that!

  12. Great video my family and my self just moved and I did the same thing and at first it was hard but now it fill so much better. Thanks for sharing

  13. Thank you I think you’ve inspired me to go through and clear out a lot of things taken up space that I’m not going to use either
