In this wholehearted woodworking task, I develop custom urns to honor the memory of our beloved pets. This journey began with in your area sourced white oak and the goal of crafting something meaningful and long lasting. This video is not about sadness but a celebration of the pleasure our animals bring to our lives. We check out the woodworking procedure, from selecting the ideal wood to designing special urns that hold both ashes and valued mementos. You'll see the elaborate information like miter joints, splines, and custom-made inlay banding that make these urns genuinely special. While creating these urns, I'll likewise share ideas on batching out woodworking jobs efficiently. Plus, you'll discover how to integrate thoughtful design elements to elevate basic boxes into works of art.

Woodworkers Secrets Revealed – Click Here to Discover the #1 Woodworking Resource!
Thank you. This couldn’t have come at better time to hear. This past Wednesday, we had to say goodbye to my 10 year old dog. As a fellow saw dust maker and dog owner, thank you.
So sorry. ♥️
Sterkte !
@makesomething
I watch your videos because as a new woodworker, your skills are something I hope to pick up someday. Your old videos and new ones matter and mean something to me. I have two 12yr old pyradors that are the world to me, and this video hits on so many levels. Keep doing the amazing work you do. Just know Weeenz has an amazing dad and a beautiful resting place now to surround him in your love.
Great post. If there is anyone who loves dogs, like us, we have all been through this. I miss my Teddy everyday. You are an inspiration for all of us.
I appreciate that you don’t feel compelled to share your personal and private moments
I’ve lost some wonderful dogs over the years to old age
Peace ☮️
I really respect the way you handled this man. Thanks for being real but also respecting yourself and us enough to keep private things private.
If you watch this video with your dogs next to you the screen turns all blurry and kinda wet looking…
One of your best videos yet, thank you.
Everyone has the goodest dog. We don’t deserve them.
“bore you with the details”
We love the details!
Beautiful urns Dave. For the goodest boys and girls.
Just so you know… all your videos mean something to me.
Same! Such a valuable channel.
I’ve done a few small projects here and there over the years, but a few years ago someone gave me an entire piece of purple heart lumber that I let hang around and around, mainly because I felt I didn’t have the skill to make anything that would do the wood justice. Then my mom passed away in Dec 21 of COVID. I knew immediately I was going to make her an urn from the purple heart, that that’s why I was given it. I found some plans online for an urn and made it out of that purple heart. It ain’t perfect by any means, but it is perfect for her. It is by far the single most meaningful thing I have made.
❤️
@critter42. Well done. There is something about some thing we make ourselves that makes it special. Giving our talents no matter our skill level is so personal. I love being able to say “I made this for you”
In the last 3 years I made 2 urns, for my parents. Watching a loved one slip away from cancer gives you such a helpless feeling and being able to go to the workshop with a real purpose helped alleviate the feeling of helplessness. (Also, dimensioning rough lumber by hand is very physically cathartic!)
Hopefully the algorithm can learn because I am with you on the approach 👍🏼
Our weenie Leona lived 16 years! They are the greatest 😂🎉
Thank you for loving my dogs as much as I do. This was such a beautiful tribute to Weenz and Tweek’s friendship. And ours. ❤
Thank you Krista. All of you mean so much to us. ❤️❤️
The love from a dog is a reminder to us how we should love everyone as the Creator of all things has told us. Do not judge, treat others as you wish to be treated. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed upon us. Live in the moment. All lessons dogs are trying to show us everyday, the living proof right in front of our eyes! I am not a religious man, I am a spiritual one!
@@kinglouistexasAmen so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
I was not prepared for all the wonderful comments and people sharing their stories. Thank you thank you.
The video got weirdly blurry from around the point when you showed pics of Weenz and Tweek. Might want to look into that. Also it made my face all wet.
Wonderful video and wonderful sentiments as well. Nicely done. Just curious but what is the name on the center back urn? I can read Tweek, Weenz, Sydney, Peanut, and Starr, but not the last one.
I got into woodworking heavy after my Dad passed away. I didn’t want any Mom to have to put his military flag in a cheap made Amazon display. So I made one out of walnut that my Dad had laying around for years. I knew a little bit to get started. After 8 months of watching YouTube videos like yours I was finally confident in tackling it. Damned if I didn’t find talent I didn’t know I had. I must naturally get it from my father. He was a woodworker. Btw the flag display turned out amazing. I wish I could share pictures with you. Thanks for all the lessons and inspiration. You’re an awesome dude.
You said there would be no crying in this video, and yet here I am, all misty-eyed in the first five minutes. I look forward to your uploads because I love your content/channel. I am a professional graphic designer/3D modeler and a hobbyist woodworker. Great job on this project! I’m so sorry for your loss!
Literally started this morning on the second urn for a friend’s dogs. When he asked, I was immediately overwhelmed with the idea that this is the greatest gift of art, to provide someone with comfort and solace in a time of need. It’s such an honor that they trust me to do this for him and his family. What better reason to learn and develop art than this? Thank you so much for sharing Dave! I’ve been a fan for so long, and you continue to touch my heart and life in so many ways!
This one hits me hard! Watching it while my bestest Doxie is laying next to me (Trixie – 13yrs.). This is such a special way to memorialize the love we have for our little friends. Thanks for sharing it!
Few things are more rewarding and more touching than to say to someone “I made this for you”.
It’s always so hard to lose a furbaby. This is such a wonderful tribute to the unconditional love we have for our pets and that our pets have for their humans.
Looked down at my 12-year-old buddy lying near me on the floor while watching this and started tearing up. Pets, man. Gotta love them.
